“A New Chapter and A New Beginning of our Lives”

New Year is celebrated yearly by everyone around the world every 1st of January. Many cultures celebrate this in certain manners. New year is considered important by many as it symbolizes new beginning. Every new year, people tend to have resolutions and goals to do for the rest of the year. Usually, they try to change their physical appearance and their lifestyle which is made to break for later. They try to explore new things and build new memories to look back. Everyone has their own resolutions and this motivates them to change for the better.

Here in the Philippines and as a Filipino, we do celebrate New Year by spending it with family and attending mass before it hits 12:00 of January 1. We make some noise using torotot, firecrackers, and any materials that is able to make loud noises as we Filipinos believe that it is away to cast away bad spirits for a new beginning. We also celebrate it by having a basket in our table full of 13 different round fruits which is believed that it symbolizes prosperity and abundance. We also make sticky desserts symbolizing togetherness of a family and dressing with polka dots which symbolizes richness. And resolutions before the new year starts is done by every one of us. The main purpose of making resolutions is that it aims to make us a better person, to live a healthy and longer life which we usually break it later. It is may be the best thing one can ever do in life because at least we tried.

It is important for us to celebrate every New Year as it is part of our culture. This culture of ours is from our ancestors which was originated by the Chinese people. But the most important thing in celebrating New Year is not just about the celebrations and resolutions but it symbolizes new beginnings of our lives.
