“The Little Things We Do Matters”

Our environment is important, it is essential for our survival as humans. Our environment provides us what we eat, drink, and everything we have. Over the past years, the state of our environment has worsened rapidly. Example is the clean air became polluted because of the gasses from cars, factories, burning of fossil fuels, and many more which affects our health. The clean waters also became dirty and full of plastics which causes animals to die and also affects our health. And our land that used to be full of trees and greens now has very little left. Now to help and save our environment from getting worse and worse, here are some of the little things that anyone can do.

Doing the 5 R’s which are Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. Refuse means that you will have to refuse to have and use the things that are bad for our environment like plastics. You also have to Reduce using harmful, wasteful, and non-recyclable products. Reuse the things that are reusable like cardboard boxes and more and instead of buying plastics that you can only use one time, replace it with reusable products. Repurpose is finding other means or ways on how you can use it which means it requires creativity like for example, instead of throwing the plastic container of your coca-cola, you can repurpose it by making it may be as a pencil holder, a display, and many more. And the last one is Recycle, where plastics can be turned into other forms which is very effective and most environmentally friendly disposal method of wastes.

Planting trees is a really important task that everyone should do. The cause of the intensification of flood, the frequent landslides during storms, and the changing of the climate is in fact because of lack of trees and plants. Trees and plants have the power to withstand and prevent severe flooding and landslides. They hold the soil together so that erosion is prevented. They also provide us foods and they also clean the waters so that it is safe for us to drink it. It is not bad to cut trees but you just have to replace and plant another and remember to not cut all the trees.

Participating in clean-up drive activities is what we also have to do. This activity is not an everyday task, this is just one in a while so there is a large chance for you to be able to make time for it. Joining a clean-up drive may be at the side of the beach in your place, at the park, and etc.  This activity has the purpose to not just help and clean our environment but it also helps you to relax while cleaning and have fun with other people.

The things that I just mentioned are just a few examples and suggestions for everyone to do that may help our environment. Those may seem like a simple task to do but those really can make a change, slowly but surely. The little thigs that we do matters. That’s why we must help preserve and protect our environment because it will also benefit us humans.
